Ben has always been a “jack-of-a-trades”. He was born and raised on a farm in Kentucky, where early on, he learned the value of hard work and working with his hands. Shortly after getting married, he and his wife (Liz) purchased their first home, a fixer upper. This is where Ben found his love of woodworking and craftsmanship. Apparently after 10 years, Ben ran out of projects at that house because he decided to try his hand at new home construction. During this time, his friends began calling him “Ben the Builder” because he did everything. From custom wood beams, custom shelving, wood flooring, and trim work. Ben’s blood, sweat, and tears were put into their new home. Once moved in, Liz began looking at new furniture, but could never find exactly what she wanted. Ben quickly learned, he could design and build anything Liz wanted. Ben’s love of woodworking and craftsmanship was built out of necessity, but has now become his passion. After years of talking about it and people begging for him to build custom pieces for them, Ben launched South Union Woodworks in 2021.

Ben lives in Logan County, Kentucky with his wife (Liz), daughter (Lily), and 2 dogs (Molly and Sawyer).
